Dr. Lane Wesson

Dr. Wesson is a Professor in the School of Education at Gardner-Webb University. She has also served as the Coordinator of the GOAL - The Degree Completion Program for elementary education for the last 18 years.

In her role, Dr. Wesson advises all elementary education candidates in the GOAL - The Degree Completion Program. She is also currently chair of the PEC, a member of General Education Committee, and a member of the Promotion and Tenure Committee. Dr. Wesson teaches initial licensure literacy courses and doctoral courses in EDCI, as well.

Previously, Dr. Wesson taught kindergarten through second grade in Haywood County and Catawba County. She also trained teachers on the effective use of technology in the classroom.

Her focus here at Gardner-Webb is on preparing each pre-service teacher to be a catalyst for positive sustainable change. I enjoy seeing initial candidates rising to a challenge and being successful cognitively, emotionally, and spiritually.

Dr. Steve Stone

Dr. Stone is an Associate Professor in the School of Education at Gardner-Webb University. He is an integral professor in the Master of Educational Leadership Program and is a Clinical Coach One Supervisor. Dr. Stone also teaches in the Doctor of Educational Leadership Program.

Dr. Stone brings many years of teaching and leadership to Gardner-Webb. He has taught US History, Civics, Economics, and has been a Principal, Director and Superintendent for 30 years in schools districts of North Carolina.

At Gardner-Webb, Dr. Stone’s work centers around Leadership Development from an administrator’s point of view. He enjoys this new phase in his Educational field.

Dr. Jennifer Putnam

Dr. Putnam is an Assistant Professor in the School of Education at Gardner-Webb University. She is also the coordinator of the Master's of Teacher Leadership in Curriculum and Instruction Program.

She brings a wealth of experience in teaching math and science at the elementary and middle school levels, and has won numerous awards for her work in the Burke County Public School System.

At Gardner-Webb, Dr. Putnam's work is focused on building leadership skills for teachers in a variety of settings, such as elementary schools, urban schools, and classes for academically and intellectually gifted students.
